Raising Funds for a Pick Up Truck to Collect Dry Plastic Waste in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram, India

Bharathi Theertha is supporting the wonderful work that the Indian Youth For Society (IYFS) volunteers are doing for the past two years. After working with them and experiencing their passion to reduce, recycle, and reuse plastic waste, Bharathi Theertha has decided to help them by obtaining a pick up truck, which would make it more efficient for them to do more work selflessly by picking up dry plastic waste and carrying it by a pickup truck rather than hauling it by hand or other modes of rental transportation. A fundraiser has just been started.

OUr target is to raise $11,100 or Rs. 8 lakhs equivalent, which is the cost of the pick up truck delivered in Visakhapatnam. Tuesday, December 3rd is Giving Day. Bharathi is teaming up with India Youth for Society (IYFS), Visakhapatnam, A.P., India. IYFs’s volunteering team headed by Mr. Y. Appalareddy is making a serious effort to minimize the pollution caused by plastics in Visakhapatnam.. It is a laudable effort.. Bharathi Theertha wishes to show case their work as a model to emulate. Yours truly, Prakasam Tata, President of Bharathi Theertha, witnessed, participated, and has been supporting IYFS’s efforts. IYFS certainly deserves your help, and is in need of a pick up truck to collect plastic bottles and other wasted plastic materials (dry plastic waste only) from individual homes, restaurants, offices, railway station etc., and process them for recycle and reuse.

A Mahindra Bolero Pik Up truck with a two year maintenance guarantee and a buy back guarantee by the company after four years of use at half of its original cost seems to be the optimal way to buy this pick up truck i. Its cost to make it ready by fitting with additional infrastructure and protection from rain will cost approximately Rs. 8,15,000 (~$11,600) in Visakhapatnam, A.P., India
